Dear Brothers and Co-Workers:
Judie and I spent the school Statewide In-service Day (October 12) at the State Capitol with high school students from throughout the state who were there for the Youth Awareness Student Congress. Wilsonville Lodge was well represented. There were two students from Canby High School and one student each from North Marion and Wilsonville High Schools.
Starting this month the LOOM meetings schedule will be changing. All meetings will be on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. They will start at 6:00 with the LOOM Board of Officers, followed by the House Committee, and ending with the LOOM general lodge meeting. This change will be effective on November 13. While there are other lodges that are using this model, the board agrees that this is a model which will be monitored closely. If it appears that it is not working, the Board is prepared to revisit this decision.
There is much going on at the lodge as we move into fall and as preparations for the Holidays begin.
Every Wednesday is Ladies’ Night with 25 cents off beverages and with lighter menu offerings. There will be Bunco on November 7th starting at 7:00 PM.
Brother Joel and his crew will be putting out the Legion Rib-eye Steak Dinner on November 2. Remember it’s held the first Friday of each month! There is no excuse for forgetting—I may not know the date, but I can always remember the day!
The weekend of November 10 and 11 our lodge will be hosting a 2-HOTT (2 day Hands On Technical Training) class for some of our members as well as members of surrounding lodges.
Brothers John and Will are continuing the Texas Hold’em tournaments on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. There will also be “low stress” Texas Hold’em on Friday evenings. Check with John or Will for more information.
Brother Jimmy’s Turkey Bingo is a great opportunity to score a bird for the T-Day feast. It happens on November 18 starting at 2:00 PM and going until the turkeys (those with wings) are all gone. For spectators the social quarters will be open. Who knew that Bingo was a spectator sport? For those who think that it isn’t, you can watch a game on the Big Screen.
Please note that the lodge will be closed on Thanksgiving so that all members can share the holiday with their families.
Those members who have been actively watching cars make continuous left turns (i.e., NASCAR) will have a NASCAR End of Season Party on November 25 at 4:00 PM. This is to help the gearheads make it through the withdrawals until next February when they start doing it all over again.
In planning your calendar please note that the WOTM are having their Christmas Bazaar on December 14 and 15.
Please remember that this is your lodge. Come on down to renew friendships, make new friends, or to recover from your early Christmas shopping!

Upcoming news and events:
“Bakeless Bake Sale”: Thank you to all of you that sent in recipes. Unfortunately, we did not have enough participation to print a book. We did, however, send recipes out to those ladies who did participate.
“Christmas in October”: At our October 10th Chapter meeting we will be celebrating Christmas! We will have door prizes, treats, games, a raffle and a Christmas walk through the Lodge to take up a donation for Christmas presents for the kids at Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven. So open up your hearts and your wallets and help us out with your generosity!
Kids' Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Scary pancake breakfast (free for anyone in a costume and for kids under 12). There will be games and prizes – so get your costumes out and come down to the Lodge for some spooky fun. There will be a sign-up sheet in the Lodge so we know how many to plan for!
We are collecting Halloween candy from now until October 30th to make “Trick or Treat” bags to donate to local childrens' hospitals. There is a barrel located in the Lodge. Last year we put together over a hundred treat bags. Let's beat that number this year!
In November, we will put up a giving tree for needy children. We are also planning food collections for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. If you know of families who could use a little help this season, let Eddie, Roger, Bonnie, Judie or any of the other officers know.
At every Chapter meeting, we draw the name of a coworker to win $25.00. This coworker needs to be at the meeting to win. On August 22nd we drew Christine Houston's name and on September 12th Tracie Wright 's name. Neither one was present.
